Kuby leads BL soccer athletes receiving postseason honors

Junior defender Kaky Kuby had already earned a reputation as an enforcer, but this year she also earned a high amount of respect. Kuby was named Defensive Player of the Year, taking the highest of all postseason honors awarded to BL.

Kuby also earned 1st Team All-District and 1st Team All-State honors to go with her junior season performance, which helped lead the Lady Friars to the TAPPS Division I semifinals and an 18-6 record.

Head coach Darrin Hedges was named the district's top coach.

Joining Kuby on the All-State list were Alexis Sanders, Mallory Johnson and Madison White from the girls' club, while Alec Alvarez and Ryan Saldana were 1st Team recipients for the boys.

On the second team were Jaida Thomas, Christina Stack, Chase Malone, Will Gates, Jonathan Bruce and Ryan Maso.

Jordyn Beard, Jonathan Ramirez and Ethan Roberts each received honorable mention.

Kuby and Saldana were also 1st Team All-State selections, while Sanders, Johnson and White was 2nd Team All-State. Senior goalkeeper Alec Alvarez received honorable mention on the All-State list.
