Bishop Lynch teacher/coach Barry Knott will receive special recognition this summer when the Irving ISD Athletic Hall of Fame welcomes its newest inductees.
Knott, who currently coach's men's golf and teaches Algebra at Bishop Lynch, is a 1991 graduate of Irving Nimitz High School, where he posted some of the best single-season and career basketball numbers in school history.
Coach Knott played basketball at Tarleton State University and posted impressive numbers at the school, which inducted him into its Hall of Fame in 2009.
Knott has been at Bishop Lynch for the past 14 years, which includes nine years as the varsity boys basketball coach. During that time he compiled a coaching record of 179-129 and his win total is the second-highest in the program's history.
He guided the Friars to a district title and 30-win season in 2009, which stood as the most wins in single-season history for the Friars until 2017. He is in his fifth year at the helm of the Friar golf program.
