Defense again dominant during annual spring game

For the second straight year, the Bishop Lynch defense stole the show during the annual Black & White Spring Game at Roffino Stadium. Returning defensive stars Grayson and Gabriel Murphy – as well as Warren Walls – provided more than a few highlights during Friday's intrasquad scrimmage.

The Black squad (defense) limited the White (offense) to just 186 yards on 73 plays (2.6 yards per play) and just 1.7 yards per carry in the running game. The Black squad brought down ball carriers for negative yards on 16 plays and for no gain on eight more.

With no returning varsity quarterback experience, the offense struggled early, tossing three interceptions. The offense managed just four plays of 20+ yards. The first of those – a 46-yard run by James Quezada – set up the offense's first scoring play on Carson Garrett's 38-yard field goal on the final play of the first half. Quezada led all rushers in the contest.

Late in the second half, with the offense starting series in the red zone, Michael Light tossed a pair of touchdown passes to Davis Kaul and Jack Bradley. On the final play of the contest, Roberto Diaz connected on a 34-yard field goal.

Scoring Summary
