The Friars behind early in Tuesday's district game with Trinity Christian, but despite their best effort, they were unable to overcome that deficit, falling 5-2 at McIngvale Field.

The Trojans (5-2 district) stayed at least tied for the district lead with the win and opened the game with a pair of runs in the first inning. TCA added another in the second and two more in the fifth for a 5-0 lead before the Friars (11-16-1 overall, 3-4 district) got on the scoreboard.

Gabe Vasquez and Colin Crenwelge accounted for the two Friar hits. Vasquez drove in a run with his single, Crenwelge doubled for the team's first hit of the game and Josh Frausto hit a sacrifice fly to score another run.

Jack Baker took the loss on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings and allowing nine hits and five runs (three earned). In relief, Joey Rutherford gave up just two hits across 3.1 innings while fanning four Trojans.

The series shifts to Addison on Friday and the varsity game will start with a 4:30 p.m. first pitch.
