Friars’ season ends in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO — Bishop Lynch went into the playoffs as a big underdog and will come home with their season coming to an end at the hands of Antonian Prep on Thursday.

Antonian (30-4) swept two games against the Friars (14-22-1) on their home field to advance to the regional round. BL's season comes to an end after sweeping rival Nolan Catholic to grab the district's final playoff seed.

Bishop Lynch fell by a 10-0 score in the first game, which was ended in the sixth inning with an Apache home run. The Friars managed just two hits – both singles – in the contest.

Antonian scored at least one run in every inning, with multiple runs scored in three of the six frames.

Unfortunately, it wouldn't get better for the Friars in Game 2, as they were held without a hit and the Apaches secured their spot in the next round with a 14-0 win in five innings.

The Friars will lose 11 seniors to graduation.
