Folks are starting to take notice of the Friar baseball program, who now hold a 7-0 district record following a sweep of Prestonwood Christian and shutout win at Trinity Christian on Tuesday.
Bishop Lynch (11-9, 7-0) blanked TCA by a 3-0 score, the same Trojan team that has averaged almost 10 runs per game this season. The series shifts to Bishop Lynch on Friday with a 7 pm first pitch at McIngvale Field.
Fans are encouraged to come out and PACK THE MACK on Friday night for a pivotal district contest.
Westin Walls (3-1) got the win over TCA, allowing three hits over 4.1 innings while striking out eight. Lucas Herrmann finished off the Trojans to earn the save. Matt Johnson had two of the Friars' six hits, Seth Torres drove in a run, as did Zak Zapletal and Jalen Webster.
In the series against Prestonwood, Walls opened the two-game set with a 10-strikeout performance over 5.1 innings. Herrmann got the win as Prestonwood committed a two-out, seventh inning error that allowed two runs to score in a walkoff ending of a 4-3 win.
Blake Bautz (5-1) went 6.1 innings in the second game at PCA, striking out eight while allowing just a single hit. The Friars trailed 2-1 after six innings before scoring three in the seventh and holding on for another 4-3 win. Torres and Johnson each drove in runs.
