Friars head to tournament looking to end offensive woes

When the Friars head to the PCA Invitational on Thursday, they'll be not only looking to get their bats going, but also snap a six-game losing streak.

Since starting the season with three straight wins, averaging 10 runs per game in those three contests. But in their current six-game slide, the Friars (3-6) have managed just eight combined runs.

The Friars have managed to pitch well despite the offensive struggles, allowing just a run in a 1-0 loss at Southwest Christian, four runs in a 4-3 loss to McKinney Christian and two runs in a 2-1 loss to HSAA.

The Friars managed just one hit in the loss to Southwest Christian, but John McVicker tossed 5.1 innings of solid ball while allowing just one run and four hits. In a 7-1 home loss to Dallas Christian, Matt Johnson slugged a pair of hits and Aaron Hunter hit a solo home run.

McVicker had two hits and Johnson drove in a run against HSAA, while Kaleb Boyles doubled and drove in a run during a 12-2 loss to Liberty Christian.

With a reworked schedule adjusting to expected rain, the Friars will take on DasCHE on Thursday 1:45 pm, then play All Saints and Legacy Christian at 9:15 and 11:30 am on Friday. Bracket play will take place on Saturday.
