If you're the thrill-seeking type, Friday's game was tailored just for you. With a string of 36 unanswered points and an individual performance for the record books, the Friars knocked off previously unbeaten Prestonwood Christian, 50-40.

The Friars' scoring output was especially nice, considering it came on the same night the school celebrated the 50thanniversary of Roffino Stadium. Some stories just can't be scripted … especially this roller-coaster ride.

Prestonwood (8-1, 2-1) fired on all cylinders to start the game, taking a 20-0 lead at the end of one period with touchdowns on all of its first-quarter possessions. But the Friars (4-4, 1-2) put together a defensive formula to slow down the Lions and set up the offense to start climbing out of the hole.

Charles Crawford, who ended the night with 312 rushing yards, got the Friars on the board with a short run, then Carson Garrett tacked on field goals of 30 and 48 yards, the latter coming as the first half expired, pulling the Friars to within a single score.

Turns out, they were just getting started.

Crawford scored on runs of 51 and 1 yards, Garrett added a 46-yard kick and Jack Bradley shook off four Prestonwood defenders and delivered a nasty stiff-arm on a 60-yard catch and run to put the Friars in front 36-20.

Late in the third, Crawford scored from 61 yards and Kaidon Salter added a short touchdown run to go with his TD pass, putting the Friars up 50-28 after three. The Lions scored twice in the fourth but never really threatened to complete a comeback.

Salter passed for 114 yards, Bradley had 75 yards on three receptions and the Friars gained almost 500 yards of offense, a new season-high.

On the defensive side, Jayden Evans had two interceptions, Cole Johnson had the other, Ayden Howard and Zion Hawkins each forced a fumble. Aaron Hunter had a sack and four tackles (two for loss) and Gabriel Murphy had a team-high seven tackles to go with a fumble recovery.
