McKinney, Gorman earn second All-State golf honors

KILLEEN — Madison Gorman and Dalton McKinney repeated as All-State selections with their Top 10 finishes at the 2018 TAPPS State Golf Championships on Tuesday.

Gorman finished sixth overall with rounds of 80 and 72 to finish 8-over for the tournament. McKinney finished eighth after shooting 77 and 76 to finish 9-over during the two-day event. 

The Lady Friars finished sixth in the team standings while the Friars were seventh after both teams shaved multiple strokes off their first-day rounds to finish strong.

The Lady Friars combined were 93-over on the first day but just 90-over on Tuesday. The Friars were 47-over on Monday but an astounding 12 strokes better on Tuesday.

On the girls' side, Audrey May finished 53-over (95/102) on the par-72 course, Kennedy Settimi (103/102) and Morgan Lyon (103/102) turned in identical scorecards of 61-over and Caitlin Doyle (123/123) finished 102-over.

For the boys, Jamie Ruengmateekhun (79/82) shot 17-over, Jack Adams (83/80) was 19-over, Demetrios Defterios finished 22-over and Seth Muehlstein (96/85) turned in a two-day score of 37-over.
