The Bishop Lynch Friar lacrosse team made history Saturday with their first official competition for the program.
While the final score put the Friars on the short end of a 7-1 result, the team made huge strides from one half to the other in their inaugural match against the visiting Denton Lightning.
Denton scored midway through the first period and held a 3-0 lead after the initial 12 minutes. The Lightning stretched that advantage to 6-0 at halftime.
The Friars cleaned up their defensive gameplay in the second half, allowing just one goal over the final two periods.
Just before the end of the third period, Ashton Allen became the first goal-scorer in men's lacrosse history at Bishop Lynch.
The team is scheduled to host Hillcrest at 7 pm Thursday, weather permitting.
