BL ladies finish one point short of meet title

In an extremely competitive meet, the Bishop Lynch girls placed second, falling one point short of the team championship Saturday in Emory.

Seventeen girls teams from Dallas to Longview and all areas in between participated in the meet.  

Hannah Eboagu finished second in the Outstanding Lifter competition for weight classes 97 through 148 and Jasmine Ruvalcaba placed second in the Outstanding Lifter competition for weight classes 165 through 259. Medal winners in their respective weight classes are as follows:

• 1st: Kennedy Martin — Squat - 270, Bench - 145 (PR), Dead lift - 280, Total  - 695
 

• 1st:  Jasmine Ruvalcaba — Squat - 370(PR), Bench - 175, Dead lift - 375(PR), Total - 920 (PR)

 

• 2nd: Hannah Eboagu — Squat - 330 (PR), Bench - 170 (PR), Dead lift - 345, Total - 845 (PR)

 

• 2nd: Jackie Walker — Squat - 270(PR), Bench - 115(PR), Dead lift - 280(PR), Total - 665(PR)

 

Also, freshmen Lillia Farlow and Nicole Gomez had their best showing of the year:

 

Lillia Farlow — Squat - 230(PR), Bench - 125(PR), Dead lift - 235(PR), Total - 590(PR)

 

• Nicole Gomez — Squat - 200(PR), Bench - 80(PR), Dead lift - 210 (PR), Total - 490(PR)

 

On the boys side, the Friars were missing five team members due to other commitments and illness but still finished 10th out of 20 teams. Medal winners in their respective weight classes are as follows:

 

• 3rd: Presley Luce — Squat - 425(PR), Bench - 260, Dead lift - 495(PR), Total - 1,180(PR)

 

• 4th: Cole Garcia — Squat - 520(PR), Bench - 315(PR), Dead lift - 505(PR), Total - 1,340(PR)

 

Top 10 finishes in their respective weight classes were accomplished by Alex Hernandez (6th), Caleb Veler (9th) and Aidan Salzman (9th).
