Parsons' big day highlights BL lifters in Cedar Hill

Men and women's powerlifting teams from Bishop Lynch earned sixth-place finishes last weekend at a meet in Cedar Hill, with one individual from each team earning gold.

Michael Parsons defeated the field in his weight class, notching a personal best total in each lift and total weight. Parsons put up weights of 370 in squat, 190 in bench and 350 in dead lift for a total of 910 pounds.

Parsons finished third in the Outstanding Lifter competition for the lower weight classes.

Jane Onuoha also won her division, using a personal-best bench press of 115 to finish with a total of 710 pounds. Her other lifts included 280 in squat and 315 in dead lift.

Other top finishes for BL include Christian Cabra (3rd), Kennedy Martin (4th), Presley Luce (5th), Alex Hernandez (5th), Jesse Veler (6th) and Lillia Farlow (6th).

On Friday, Onuoha and Martin will be joined by Hannah Eboagu and Jasmine Ruvalcaba to compete in the regional championships at Cedar Hill.

The men's regional meet is scheduled for March 4 in Keller.
