Lady Friars make short work of Bishop Dunne, sweep season series

For the second time in as many days, the Bishop Lynch softball team made sure they were home in time for dinner.

After dropping TCA in just four innings Monday, the Lady Friars (11-10-1 overall, 7-2 district) trounced Dunne on Tuesday by a 16-1 score in just three innings.

BL opened with four runs in the first frame, nine in the second and three in the third to enforce the run-rule once again. The Lady Friars have outscored their last two opponents by a combined score of 35-1.

Gabi Quintanilla drove in four runs, Lillia Farlow had three hits and Megan Metry hit her second home run of the season and drove in three more runs.

Riley Cantrell hit her team-leading eighth home run of the season, going opposite field against a strong wind to clear the right field fence at Ferguson Park. The junior now has 30 RBIs this season.

All nine Lady Friars to step up to the plate scored at least once and the team struck out just one time.

Kristen Linares picked up her second win in as many days, tossing two innings with just one hit and no runs allowed. She struck out two and walked one.

Abby Thrash pitched one inning in relief, allowing a run and a hit with two strikeouts.

The Lady Friars host John Paul II this afternoon at 4:30 p.m. and hit the road tomorrow to face Ursuline at 5 p.m., wrapping up a busy week for BL with four games in five days.
