Busy week will determine Lady Friars' playoff future

If the weather cooperates, the Lady Friar softball team may finally get a chance to catch up in their schedule, beginning Monday at home vs Ursuline.

The ladies (12-9, 7-3) will play five games in six days this week, with road games at Bishop Dunne (Tues.), Liberty Christian (Wed.), and Prestonwood (Thur.) before the final home game Saturday vs TCA.

Lady Friars 11, THESA 5

A pair of five-run innings helped push BL past its non-district visitor, with big scoring in the third and fifth frames. Abby Thrash struck out 10 in a complete game while Lillia Farlow had three hits and 3 RBI. Riley Cantrell doubled twice.

Nolan 10, Lady Friars 0

BL managed just four hits in a five-run road loss to district leader Nolan, which scored seven times in the third inning to put the game out of reach. Thrash struck out six but allowed 10 runs and eight hits. Farlow and Cantrell each had singles.

Duncanville 13, Lady Friars 2

The final non-district game for the Lady Friars ended in five innings against a state-ranked Duncanville squad. Four defensive errors allowed Duncanville to put up 11 runs in the second inning. Gabi Quintanilla and Maggie O'Connor each had multiple hits for Bishop Lynch.

• Bishop Lynch is currently third in the district standings behind Nolan Catholic (13-0) and Liberty Christian (11-2). The Lady Friars still have a chance at earning the district's second seed by winning out and need to finish third or higher to guarantee a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

• The Lady Friars will honor its 2018 senior class this afternoon when they host Ursuline at Ferguson Park. Senior Night recognition begins at 4:30 pm.
