The Lady Friars won their second straight game by way of mercy rule Tuesday, taking a non-district game at Greenhill, 15-3, in five innings.
With four runs in the first and seven more in the second, the Lady Friars (13-13-2) put the game away early. Tabitha Jackson teed off on Greenhill pitching with three hits, a triple, four RBIs, and three runs scored. Evelyn Santos (1-1) earned her first varsity victory with four strikeouts and two earned runs in five innings.
Marielma Garcia also had two hits for the Lady Friars. Escalante stole three bases while Quintanilla and Garcia each swiped a pair. The ladies teamed up to steal 10 bases in the contest.
Bishop Lynch scored four runs on four consecutive RBI-singles in the first inning. In the big second frame, four runs scored on fielder's choice plays, another on a single by Escalante, and two runs scored on Jackson's triple.
Garcia scored on a passed ball in the fourth, and the team added runs in the fifth on Martinez' double, a Jackson single, and a sacrifice bunt from Escalante.
The Lady Friars are back home this evening to host HSAA in another non-district contest, scheduled for a 4:30 pm start.
