SUNNYVALE – Tabitha Jackson would not be denied at the plate Monday when runners were on base, driving in five runs on three hits to lead Bishop Lynch past Sunnyvale 17-2 in five innings. The Friars (19-13-2) extended their win streak to eight consecutive games, dating back to March 20.
In the first inning, Bishop Lynch got its offense started when Lillia Farlowtripled on a 3-0 count, scoring one run. The Friars notched five runs in the fifth inning on singles by Natalia Escalante and J.P. Sammis, a sacrifice by Libby Land, and an error on a ball put in play by Gabi Quintanilla.
Jackson (15-8) was credited with the victory, throwing all five innings and allowing two unearned runs on two hits and striking out nine.
Bishop Lynch totaled 14 hits. Jackson, Sammis, Escalante, and Evelyn Santos each collected multiple hits for the Friars. Escalante, Sammis, and Jackson all had three hits to lead the way. Kyleigh Freeman drove in a pair of runs.
The Friars hit the road Thursday to face Ursuline Academy in a winner-take-all district championship game at 4:30 pm. The two teams are tied in the league standings at 4-1 with one game to play.
