Farlow, Garcia power Friars to district title

Junior catcher Lillia Farlow was a thorn in the side of Ursuline's defense Friday, capping a 4-for-4 plate performance with a home run over the wall in straightaway center field, helping the Friars capture the district title with an 8-4 win on the road.

The Friars (20-13-2) will host TCA-Addison for a TAPPS Division I Area playoff contest next Monday or Tuesday. Bishop Lynch has now won nine consecutive games.

Bishop Lynch opened the scoring in the second inning when Marielma Garcia doubled on an 0-2 count, scoring two runs. The Friars added three runs in the sixth, thanks to a triple from Tabitha Jackson and Farlow's blast.

Jackson (16-8) earned the win in the pitching circle, allowing five hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out nine. Garcia added a home run over the wall in left field in the seventh inning.

The Friars racked up 12 hits in the game. Farlow, Alexis Martinez, and Garcia all had multiple hits. Martinez had three hits and scored twice, Garcia drove in three runs, and Natalia Escalante also drove in a pair.

The Friars host Ursuline this evening for a playoff warmup game at 4:30 pm.
