CARROLLTON – The district champs coasted to a win in Tuesday's area playoff game against TCA-Addison, run-ruling the Lady Trojans in five innings by a 10-0 score at Prince of Peace Christian School.
The win sends Bishop Lynch (22-13-2) to this weekend's regional round where they will take on district foe John Paul II, a 7-6 area winner over Liberty Christian on Monday.
The two teams split two district games this season and the Cardinals handed the Friars their last loss way back on March 20. Since then, the Friars have now reeled off 11 consecutive wins.
Getting to No. 11 wasn't much of a problem as the Friars put up three runs in the second, five more in the third and a pair in the fourth. Tabitha Jackson (18-8) tossed a five-inning shutout and struck out six while surrendering just three hits.
Marielma Garcia led the Friars at the plate with three hits and drove in a pair of runs. Lillia Farlow doubled twice, Alexis Martinez doubled to score two runs and Evelyn Santos brought in a run with a double of her own.
The date, time and location of the upcoming regional playoff game is yet to be determined. The winner will advance to the TAPPS Division I State Tournament in Crosby on May 17-18.
