The Bishop Lynch AquaFriars took to the pool on Friday and Saturday this for the Texas Coaches' Association Class 5A Swimming & Diving Invitational.
The Lady Friars had an extraordinarily successful weekend, fielding a team of only four qualifiers, but still finishing ninth in the field of 40 teams.
The Lady Friars were led by senior Niamh Tierney, who finished 5th overall in the 100-yard freestyle and 6th overall in the 50-yard freestyle. Niamh was the only Friar swimmer to reach the championship final in multiple events, the 3rd consecutive year Niamh has accomplished this outstanding feat.
Niamh was supported by sophomore Ailish Tierney, who swam a season-best time of 2:00.95 seconds in finishing 5th in the 200-yard freestyle and 10th in the 100-yard freestyle.
Senior Bonnie Nolan had an exceptional meet, finishing 7th overall in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:04.65 seconds, which beat her previous best time by six seconds. Nolan also finished 13th in the 100-yard backstroke.
Freshman Lindsay Hudspeth rounded out the successful day by the Lady Friars by finishing 16th in the 100-yard freestyle and 18th in the 50-yard freestyle.
On the men's side, senior Will Eckles finished 23rd in the 500-yard freestyle and 19th in the 100-yard backstroke. Senior Sean O'Hare finished 48th in the 200-yard freestyle and 47th in the 100-yard freestyle.
