BL swimming opens season with impressive outing

Bishop Lynch swim teams started the new season strong Thursday in a meet against Bryan Adams and Mesquite, the first competition under new coach Griffin Marshall.

The Lady Friars earned win over both teams, topping Mesquite with a score of 101-66 and Bryan Adams by a 106-53 margin.

The Friars went back and forth with Bryan Adams before pulling away for an 87-77 win, but fell just short against Mesquite by an 86-82 score.

Ailish Tierney finished first in the 100-meter freestyle and 100-meter backstroke while Ella Price won the 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter breaststroke.

On the men's side, the 200-meter freestyle relay team of Shaughnessy Smith, Preston Pierce, Hunter Morgan and Joe Weber won their race by more than 14 seconds.

The teams will be in action again Saturday, hosting Jesuit, Ursuline, JPII and Nolan.
