BL swimmers prep for regionals in final dual meet

The Friar swim team competed in their final dual meet of the season on the road Tuesday. The men's team competed against St. Marks while the Lady Friars swam against Hockaday.

Starting to focus on the upcoming regionals and state meet, the Friars put their attention on the sprint events and relays on the night.

A "tip of the goggles" to the Lady Friars as they took the Top 5 finishes in the 100 freestyle, including junior Ailish Tierney, sophomores Lindsay Hudspeth and Kate Springs and freshmen Sofia Eliason and Sophie Robertson.

Men's captain George Smith went season-bests in both the 200 individual medley and 500 freestyle. Another tip of the goggles to sophomore Javier Huerta as he dropped time in all four of his events.

Unfortunately, the depth of both teams proved to be too much for the Friars. The Lady Friars finish their dual meet competition with a 4- 4 record while the men finish with a 5-3 record. The Friars will attempt to qualify for the state swim meet when they swim in the regionals meet on Jan. 26 in Mansfield.
