Men capture second straight regional title; women finish second in Mansfield

The Bishop Lynch swim teams competed in the 2019 TAPPS North Regionals meet on Friday afternoon in Mansfield. 

The girls' team finished as regional runner-up and were able to go out and win five out of 11 events, including the 200 medley relay. 

Freshmen Hadley Beeson and Stella Todd were able to win both of their respective events with Beeson in the 200 and 500 free and Todd with the 200 IM and 100 fly. 

A tip of the swim cap to junior Kate Springs, who managed to go lifetime bests in both the 50 freestyle (28.21) and 100 freestyle (1:03.57). 

The boys' team captured its second straight regional championship, winning three events, including the 200 freestyle relay. 

Senior captain Joe Weber qualified in both the 200 and 100 freestyles, taking first place in the 100. Sophomore Luke Weber qualified in the 200 freestyle as well as the 100 breaststroke. Freshmen Callen Singhania and Austin January were able to qualify for state, Singhania in the 200 IM and 100 fly and January in the 100 free. 

A tip of the swim cap to sophomore Jacob Heck, who put together a lifetime best in the 500 free (6:01.73) as well as earning Bishop Lynch's Virtue Athlete of the Week! 

The swim team will look to capture a state title when they compete in the TAPPS State Championship on Feb. 8th in Mansfield. We hope to see everyone out there to support your Aqua Friars!
