Three student-athletes from Bishop Lynch represented the school Monday at the TAPPS State Tennis Championships, held in Waco.

Senior Ben Walter along with sophomores Jillian Brown and Ashlyn Duy concluded the 2016-17 season with competitive showings in Waco.

Walter faced a tough draw in the opening round, going head-to-head with the top overall seed, Vivek Saran from Houston's Awty International.

Saran swept the first set 6-0, but Walter gave him a good run in the second set, giving the top-ranked singles player more than he'd likely bargained for.

Walter finished his BL tennis career with a 6-0, 6-3 loss to Saran in the first round.

Duy faced Beaumont Kelly's Garret Halbert in the opening round in a match that featured more than a few long points on lengthy back-and-forth exchanges.

Halbert won both sets, 6-2, 6-2, but not without an incredible fight from Duy.

Brown also drew one of the tougher opponents in Elizaveta Antonova from Houston's Duchesne Academy.

Brown not only battled one of the top women's opponents, but fatigue from a weekend tournament, pushing Antonova to deuce on a number of occasions. Antonova won the match, 6-0, 6-0.
