WACO — Solid showings in a pair of relays helped the Lady Friars secure a fourth-place team finish Saturday at the TAPPS State Track & Field Championships.
The team of Emma Williams, Reagan Potts, Kristen Phoenix and Hanna Theodore sprinted to a season-best time of 49.97 seconds in the 400-meter relay, taking bronze in the event.
Williams joined Monet Perry, Jane Onuoha and Jessica Taylor to finish fourth in the 800-meter relay.
The Lady Friars finished the two-day meet with 74 points, just 11 points behind the third-place team. The girls also finished seventh in the 1600-meter relay and Onuoha was seventh in the 100-meter hurdles.
The Friars competed in just two events Saturday, finishing ninth in the 400-meter relay and suffering a disqualification in the 800-meter relay.
The boys finished 17th overall in the team standings.
