Lady Friars head to PCA on verge of another district championship

Two games remain for the Bishop Lynch Lady Friars before heading to the postseason, but they need only win one – Tuesday's contest at Prestonwood Christian – to wrap up another district title and top playoff seed.

The Lady Friars – ranked No. 1 in the TABC Large Private School poll – are on an eight-game win streak after blowing out both John Paul II and Parish Episcopal in the past week. The team (27-7, 6-0) has a bye on Friday before tangling with the Lions on Tuesday, then closing out the regular season at Ursuline Academy on Friday, Feb. 15.

In last Friday's 74-48 win at JP2, Endyia Rogers tossed in a game-high 26 points while Paige Bradley posted a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds. Rogers added seven assists, four steals and four rebounds.

On Tuesday, the Lady Friars honored their seniors during their finale, easily putting away Parish by a 58-30 margin. Rogers pumped in 24 points while hitting all 12 of her shots inside the three-point line and Bradley added 12 to go with eight rebounds and two blocks.

The highly-anticipated second matchup with Prestonwood will likely have the host Lions looking for a measure of revenge after falling at Bishop Lynch on Jan. 25 by a score of 81-59. The Lady Friars outscored PCA 52-35 in the second half of that contest, during which Rogers lit up the Lions for 35 points, 11 assists, seven rebounds and five steals. Jaida Thomas added 20 points and Talia DePetrillo had 11.
