Mazur leads small group of BL wrestlers at Rockwall meet

Still competing with a shorthanded squad, the Bishop Lynch wrestling team made an impressive showing last weekend at the Rumble on the Rock, hosted by Rockwall High School.

Luke Mazur (120) led the team with a third-place finish, coming from behind to pin his opponent in the third-place match. Mazur's only loss of the tournament was to a defensing UIL state champion.

Raul Villa (126), Charlie Holub (220), and Kade Findley (182) each placed seventh in their respective weight divisions, each of which had more than 30 wrestlers.

The Friars brought just eight wrestlers to the tournament, four of which were still alive after the first day of competition. Three of the eight competitors had less than two weeks of practice to prep for the event.

The team will compete twice this week with a tri-match Thursday at Colleyville against Colleyville Heritage and Sam Houston. They'll travel to RL Turner in Carrollton the following day for the PJ Aubrey Tournament.
