Wrestlers test their mettle at prestigious Atlanta Prep Slam

Over the Christmas break, 20 members of the wrestling team travelled to Atlanta to compete in the prestigious Prep Slam tournament.

Competition was fierce as the best private school teams from New Jersey, Tennessee, Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, Florida, and Georgia went head to head.

The Friars were led by sophomores Charlie Holub and Ben Weber, who each went 3-2 with juniors Luke Mazur and Raul Villa also having a good tournament, finishing 2-2.

Holub's only losses were to senior state champions from Florida and Louisiana while Weber lost only to the top-ranked seniors from Texas and Georgia.

It was a great experience for all who went and the wrestling team would especially like to thank managers Lainey Mandaville and Jasmine Pham for all of their help in keeping the trip organized and running smoothly.

The wrestling team will be in action this Saturday at The Colony competing in a tournament with 30 other top teams.
