Showdowns with top district teams next for Lady Friars

A pair of district wins, including Monday night's thrilling win over John Paul II, have the Lady Friars riding a wave of momentum into their two toughest remaining games of the regular season.

The third-ranked Lady Friars (15-4-2, 11-2) played to a scoreless draw against JPII last night, remained scoreless in overtime and earned the win during a penalty shootout. Chase Malone, Kaky Kuby and Mallory Johnson made penalty kicks while Madison White saved three of the opponents' attempts.

The team also won 7-0 against Prestonwood Christian back on Jan. 18, behind a three-goal, two-assist performance by Johnson. Kuby assisted on three goals. Adding to the scoring totals was Anna Schrader, Mia Belz, Jordyn Beard and Aly Simpkins. Gwen Hall earned the shutout win.

Over the next week, the Lady Friars will face the two teams occupying first and third place in the district standings. BL hosts Ursuline Academy on Thursday at 7:30 pm and Nolan Catholic on Monday at 7:45 pm.
