More than 40 high school volleyball players will be showcased next month during the 2017 TAVC All-Star Games, but only one will represent a private school — Bishop Lynch's Madi Tyus.

Tyus will represent the West team Saturday, May 20, joining players from schools such as Corsicana, Hebron, The Woodlands, McKinney Boyd and George Ranch.

The four All-Star teams made up of Class 5A and 6A (UIL) as well as private schools will compete at Midway High School in Hewitt, with semifinal games beginning at 11:30 a.m. The championship game is slated for 2:30 p.m.

Tyus racked up several honors during her junior year, including 1st Team All-State, 1st Team All-District and District Offensive Player of the Year, despite missing several games with injury. She was also selected to the TAPPS All-Tournament Team.

The junior totaled 201 kills and 164 digs for the Lady Friars, who finished 32-8 and advanced to the state finals.
