Eight Friars collect postseason accolades

A total of eight members of the volleyball program received postseason accolades following another trip to the Final Four and second-place finish in district. 

Senior Lauryn Green was named Co-Offensive Player of the Year in the district, as well as 1st Team All-State and All-District for a senior campaign that included 433 kills and 136 blocks. She finished her varsity career with 1,028 kills and signed with Tulane earlier this month.

Fellow senior Izzy Clavenna, who recently signed with Boston College, also received 1st Team All-District honors and was named 2nd Team All-State. She compiled 458 kills (868 in her career), and 360 digs during the season.

Alex Galicia received her second All-State honor, this time as a member of the 2nd Team, as well as 1st Team All-District. Galicia turned in 584 assists to pass the 1,000-assist mark and now has 1,320 in her two-year varsity career.

Katie Blomberg leads the group that landed on the All-District 2nd Team and was also named Co-Newcomer of the Year in the district. Joining Blomberg (220 kills, 260 digs) are Sydney Broussard (576 digs) and Harper McDonald (150 kills).

Emma Cuneo (94 kills, 88 blocks) and Izzy Aguilar (403 assists) received honorable mention.

Clavenna and Green were selected to the TAPPS 6A All-Tournament team for their performance in the state tournament. Clavenna also received Academic All-State honors.
