BL Volleyball Achievements

The Bishop Lynch volleyball program has been extremely successful over the years. Here are some achievements over the past few seasons:

2017 – TAPPS 6A State Semifinalists; Final record: 36-5

  • 1st Team All-State: Madi Tyus, Lauryn Green
  • 2nd Team All-State: Izzy Clavenna
  • Honorable Mention All-State: Alex Galicia

  • Consecutive district victories – 64 – now longest active streak in state of Texas

  • Tricia Roos named TAPPS 5A Female Coach of the Year
  • Varsity team finishes season ranked #14 in the state among all public and private schools
  • Varsity team finishes season ranked #167 in the nation among all public and private schools
  • Freshman team final record: 14-7
  • Sophomore team final record: 22-5
  • JV team final record: 20-8

2012 — TAPPS 5A State Champions; Final Record 32-13

  • The Varsity team finished the season ranked #13 in the state of Texas among ALL public and private schools according to Lonestarvolleyball.com. This is the highest ranking the volleyball program has ever earned.
  • The Varsity team finished the district season as Co-District Champions with a district record of 13-1.
  • The Varsity team finished 3rd in the Grapevine Tournament (32 teams), 4th in the Allen Tournament (32 teams), and 8th at the Pearland Tournament (79 teams).
  • The JV team finished the season with a 22-7 record and a 12-1 district record.
  • Senior Li'i Etimani and juniors Maggie Joyce, Sarah Bennett and Madi Wilkerson were selected on the All-State All-Tournament Team.
  • Senior Li'i Etimani and junior Maggie Joyce were selected to First team All-State. Junior Sarah Bennett was selected to Second team All-State.
  • Senior Li'i Etimani and juniors Maggie Joyce and Sarah Bennett were selected to First team all-district. Junior Madi Wilkerson, sophomore Sofia Schleppenbach and freshman Shalom Ifeanyichukwu were selected to second team all-district.
  • Sophomore Morgan Reed received all-district honorable mention.
  • Junior Maggie Joyce received the "Small School Player of the Year" award for the entire state of Texas. This includes public and private schools. She was also selected as on the "All-American" team, which only included 39 juniors in the nation!

2011 — TAPPS 5A State Semifinalists; Final Record 32-12

  • Varsity team finished 2nd in district with a district record of 12-2. The varsity team finished 2nd place at the Arlington Varsity Invitational Tournament as well as 1st place in the Consolation bracket at the Allen Varsity Tournament.
  • JV team final record was 24-8. They went undefeated in district.
  • Sophmore team final record 24-5. The team won the Silver Bracket in two JV tournaments.
  • Freshman team final record was 22-7
  • Li'i Etimani (junior) received the following honors: 1st team All-State, 1st team All-District, District Setter of the Year, All-State All Tournament Team
  • Maggie Joyce (sophomore) received the following honors: 2nd team All-State, 1st team All-District
  • Mary Delph (senior), Kelly Swanson (senior), and Gabby Howard (junior) received 2nd team All-District honors.
  • Madison Terzo (senior) and Alice Vrana (sophomore) received Honorable Mention All-District honors

2010 — TAPPS 5A State Finalists; Final Record 34-8

  • Varsity team went undefeated in district (14-0). The varsity team won 1st place at the Arlington Varsity Invitational Tournament (32 teams, mostly 4A/5A public schools) as well as 1st place in the Challege Bracket at the Allen Varsity Tournament
  • JV team final record was 22-8, 11-2 in district
  • Sophomore team final record 21-9
  • Freshman team final record 23-2
  • Moira Kirk (senior), Sierra Welch (senior), Li'i Etimani (sophomore) and Maggie Joyce (freshman) received 1st team all-state, 1st team all-district, and All-State All-Tournament Team Honors
  • Kelly Swanson (junior) and Alex Terzo (senior) received 2nd team All-District Honors
  • Mary Delph (junior) and Madison Terzo (junior) received Honorable Mention All-District Honors
  • Senior Sierra Welch received the "Defensive Player of the Year" award for the TAPPS 1-5A District
  • Sophomore Li'i Etimani received the "Setter of the Year" award for the TAPPS 1-5A District
  • Freshman Maggie Joyce received the "Offensive Player of the Year" award for the TAPPS 1-5A District, MVP of the Arlington Varsity Tournament as well as the "Newcomer of the Year" award for the Dallas Morning News and the "Newcomer of the Year" award for Lonestarvolleyball.com
  • Coach Roos was named 2010 Coach of the year for the third year in a row

2009 — TAPPS 5A State Finalists; Final record 41-9

  • Varsity team went undefeated in district (14-0) 
  • JV team final record was 34-7, 12-1 in district 
  • Sophomore team placed 4th place in Plano ISD league 
  • Freshman team finished 8-2 in district play 
  • Becky Wallander (Senior outside hitter) received 1st team all-district, 1st team all-state, MVP of the District, and All-State Tournament Team 
  • Michelle Carson (Senior setter) received 1st team all-district, 1st team all-state, the district “Setter of the Year” award, and All-State Tournament Team 
  • Lauren Nevitt (Senior DS) received 2nd team all-district honors 
  • Sara Lewis (Senior middle blocker) received 1st team all-district honors and All-State Tournament Team 
  • Sierra Welch (Junior Libero) received 1st team all-district and 1st team all-state honors 
  • Sara Myers (Sophomore middle blocker) received 1st team all-district, 2nd team all-state, the district “Newcomer of the Year” award, and All-State Tournament Team 
  • Coach Roos was named 2009 District Coach of the Year

2008 — TAPPS 5A State Champions; Final record 36-5

  • The varsity season ended on a 27 match win-streak 
  • JV and Varsity went undefeated in district (14-0) and (12-0) 
  • Sophomore team placed 2nd in Plano ISD league 
  • Freshman team finished 10-2 in district play 
  • Freshman team won 1st place in two tournaments; Cedar Hill Freshman Tournament and Dallas Christian Freshman Tournament 
  • The varsity won 1st place in the Hays High School Tournament in Austin, Texas 
  • Meghan Mannari (Senior outside hitter) received the MVP award of the district as well as 1st team All-State, State All-Tournament Team, and Dallas Morning News Player of the Week 
  • Becky Wallander (Junior outside hitter) received 1st team all-district, 1st team all-state, MVP of Hays Tournament, and All-State Tournament Team 
  • Jessica Jiles (Senior middle blocker) received 1st team all-district, 2nd team all-state, and All-State Tournament Team 
  • Michelle Carson (Junior setter) received 1st team all-district, 2nd team all-state, the district “Newcomer of the Year” award, and All-State Tournament Team 
  • Lauren Nevitt (Junior Libero) received 2nd team all-district 
  • Sara Lewis (Junior middle blocker) and Katie Plunk (Senior right-side hitter) received Honorable Mention in district 
  • Coach Roos named 2008 District Coach of the Year 
  • Jessica Jiles committed to play at the University of Texas at Arlington 
  • Meghan Mannari has offers from Louisiana State University, Clemson University, and Ole Miss University. Meghan committed to LSU.

  • Head coach Tricia Roos has compiled a record of 360-104, for a winning percentage of 78%.
  • Coach Roos recorded career victory No. 300 on August 19, 2016 during the Allen Tournament.
