Hernandez, Sheaffer race to state cross country berths

CEDAR HILL — Bishop Lynch will send two runners to state at the end of the month on the strength of their individual finishes at the District Championships last week.

Luke Hernandez and Ryan Sheaffer finished in the Top 15, earning individual spots in the state championship meet. The TAPPS State Championships will take place Monday at the Cottonwood Creek Golf Course in Waco.  

During the district meet at Joe Pool Lake, Hernandez finished 11th and Sheaffer was 13th. Each was named 2nd Team All-District. Killian Baker, Joe McDonald, Seth Green, Lucas Herrmann and Chris Dunn all helped the Friars to a sixth-place team finish.

Elissa Dryden was 24th to lead the Lady Friars, who also finished sixth in the team standings. Other ladies competing were Annie Stewart, Anna Schrader, Jasmine Rodriguez, Chloe Phillips, Emily Hall and Norma Ceron.

The Lady Friars' JV finished fourth behind solid outings from Amanda Green (18th) and Scarlett Fulmer (19th).
