DALLAS, TX -- The varsity women's lacrosse team opened up their post-season play with a district semi-final victory over Plano to the score of 11-3. This is BL's seventh straight win and this win guarantees them a trip to the state playoffs.
The Friars had just recently played Plano last week and took that game 12-2, so they came into last night's matchup with a lot of confidence. They showed it early, quickly taking the lead and then having a 7-2 halftime advantage. The second half was more of the same, the Friars outscored Plano 4-1 to take the game 11-3.
Four Friars found the back of the net last night.
Daryn Raleigh led the way with four goals and
Quincy Salinas added three.
Corbin Salinas and
Anna Daniel each added two goals to round out all the goal scorers.
Jana Ampil had to step up and start as goalie for the Friars and that is exactly what the sophomore did. Ampil made six saves throughout the contest while only surrendering three goals.
NEXT UP:
The Friars will take on the winner of John Paul II and Grapevine next week for the district championship. No matter the result, BL has qualified for the state tournament as they are currently ranked second in the state in D3.Â
