Pope Grabs District Title as Friars Shine at TAPPS 6A District Meet

MCKINNEY, TX – The Bishop Lynch cross country team collected six individual medals — including the overall district champion on the men's side, Harman Pope — at the TAPPS 6A District Meet on Wednesday morning at Myers Park.

The men's team turned in a spectacular performance, finishing second overall in the TAPPS 6A-District 2 standings. Pope was crowned district champion, while senior captain Dash Raya also had an outstanding race, placing fourth overall. In total, the Friars had five runners finish in the top 15 to earn medals: Pope (1st), Raya (4th), Landry Rose (7th), Alex Malakoff (10th), and Peirce Oxford (11th).

On the women's side, freshman phenom Emme Driscoll battled against the best in the district and finished sixth overall to earn a medal. She was the Friars' lone medalist for the women, but the entire squad ran hard and finished fourth overall as a team.

The Friars will resume training as the first TAPPS State Championship of the school year takes place on Monday, October 26, at Cottonwood Creek in Waco, TX.
