Parish leaves town with shutout win over Friars

The bats were cooled Tuesday in the Friars' 4-0 loss to Parish Episcopal at McIngvale Field. In doing so, the Panthers moved dangerously close to overtaking Bishop Lynch for the fourth and final playoff spot in the district.

The Friars (9-14-1, 2-5) were held to just four hits as the Panthers (1-4) put together all of the games' scoring in a single inning, totaling eight hits on the night.

John McVicker started the contest, tossing 4.1 innings and allowing five hits, five walks, and three earned runs. Lucas Hermann (0-2) took the loss with 2.2 innings of relief work, striking out three and allowing three hits.

Kaleb Boyles reached base three times, going 2-for-2 at the plate with a double and a walk. Jalen Webster and Jackson Epes had the other Friar hits. Max Danielsen reached on a walk. The Friars struck out nine times.

Boyles doubled in the third with two outs but was left stranded. Boyles would be stranded at second twice in the contest and once at third. McVicker tossed four straight scoreless innings to start the game.

In the fifth, the Panthers led off with a single, followed by four straight walks, the fourth coming from Hermann following a pitching change. That walk was succeeded by a run-scoring single and sacrifice fly to plate all four Parish runs.

A double play ended the Friar fifth, and they went down in order in the seventh to end the game. The Friars get a chance to even the series Friday when they play at Parish. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
