Friars get even with Parish in Friday's counter game

Just a few days after suffering a shutout loss to open the series against Parish, the Friars got even – and then some – in Friday's counter game on the road, blasting the Panthers for a 16-4 win in six innings.

The Friars (10-14-1, 3-5) not only got even in the series but pulled a full game ahead of Parish for the fourth and final playoff spot in the district. While the other four district teams will battle each other this week, the Friars will host a pair of non-district games on Tuesday and Friday.

Senior Max Danielsen (6-5) tossed five strong innings to pick up his sixth win, striking out four and surrendering just five hits and three earned runs. Will Haynes tossed an inning of relief.

Darries Boyd hit his first home run as a Friar – ironically against his former school – and finished with two hits and two RBIs. John McVicker had two hits and drove in two, Danielsen added two hits and drove in three, and Kaleb Boyles drove in a pair with a triple.

The Friars host St. Mark's on Tuesday and L.D. Bell on Friday for Senior Night. Both contests will begin at 7:00 pm. District play resumes April 9 at Prestonwood Christian.
