PLANO – One inning made all of the difference Friday in a TAPPS Division I Area playoff game between Bishop Lynch and FW All Saints. It was in that one inning – the first of the game – that the Saints put up all of their runs, then held on to shutout the Friars in a 4-0 contest at Prestonwood Christian.

The Friars end their season with a record of 14-19-1 and a sizeable senior class of 13 players participating in their final game for the program.

All Saints (26-5) was held to just three hits but doubled and walked with one out in the first to set up the Saints for a three-run shot over the left field wall for a 3-0 lead. The Saints added another run on another double with two outs.

All Saints would have just two batters reach on walks and no hits over the final five frames but did all the damage it needed in the opening innings. The Friars also managed just three hits on singles by Matt Johnson, Darries Boyd, and Kade Findley. All three would also reach base again on walks.

John McVicker (5-6) took the loss, pitching all six innings and allowing three hits, four runs and five walks with one strikeout. After the first inning, the senior was as solid as ever but just couldn't get the offensive support to erase the deficit.

The Friars' roster includes seven who will be eligible to return next season, including Boyd, and Jalen Webster, who led the team this season in most offensive categories, including hits (31), doubles (9), home runs (2), RBIs (27), batting average (.356), and slugging percentage (.529).
