Bishop Lynch pounded Ursuline on Thursday, wrapping up the first round of district games and creating a logjam at the top of the standings, courtesy of a 7-1 victory at Ferguson Park.

The Friars (15-13-2, 2-1) now stand tied with both Ursuline and John Paul II, holding a tiebreaker over the Bears with their head-to-head win. They'll get a chance to take sole possession of first place Thursday when they visit John Paul II at 5:30 pm.

As for Monday's game, freshman Tabitha Jackson tossed a perfect game through a little more than four innings and earned her 11th win of the season while striking out 10 and allowing no walks. Alexis Martinez roped a pair of triples and drove in four of the Friars' seven runs.

She broke a scoreless tie in the third with a line drive to center that scored Gabi Quintanilla, then following RBIs from Natalia Escalante and JP Sammis to make it 4-0, Martinez cleared the bases with a blast to left to make it 7-0.

Jackson retired 12 consecutive batters to start the game before giving up a bloop single to lead off the fifth. She retired the side in order in the sixth and, after giving up a pair of hits to start the seventh, struck out the last two hitters to end the game.
