Bishop Lynch completed a season sweep of Bishop Dunne on Thursday, putting themselves in position to win the district crown with a win in their final district contest.
With the win, the Friars (17-13-2, 4-1) have put together a string of six consecutive wins and can clinch the league title with a win over Ursuline on April 25 or a loss by the Bears in either of their remaining two district games. The Friars have clinched at least a share of the district championship.
Jackson recorded her 13th win of the season, allowing just five hits and two earned runs over a full seven innings in addition to her 10 strikeouts. She also doubled twice, driving in two runs and scoring three herself.
Solid pitching and defense have been the recipe for the Friars during their current win streak, allowing no more than three runs in any of the last six games and no more than five in the last seven. The defense has also committed just six errors during the current win streak.
The Friars opened the scoring Thursday with a three-run first, then added three in the fifth after Dunne had closed the gap to 3-2. With a 6-3 lead heading into the last frame, the Friars added three more for good measure.
Bishop Lynch heads to Argyle this evening for a non-district game at Liberty Christian, scheduled for a 6:00 pm start. They'll be back home Tuesday to host Greenhill at 5:00 pm.
