Coach Ferrell is beginning his ninth year at Bishop Lynch and his fifth year as Head Softball Coach.
He served as the Junior Varsity Coach for Amy Wheeler for 5 seasons and also served as the Special Teams Coordinator for the Varsity Football team for 6 years, helping the Friars win the State Championship in 2016. He led the Softball team to the AREA Title this past 2021 season.
Coach Ferrell has over 20 years of experience in Softball and Baseball, having started the program at Richardson HS, and has had numerous successes leading the North Forney program in its first 3 years to 3 straight playoff appearances and 2 District Titles. He has also coached at Berkner, Garland, Cedar Hill, Del Rio, Lancaster, Newman Smith, Naaman Forest, Ovilla Christian, and Providence Christian over his 40-year career in Texas Education.
He got his degree from Texas Tech University, where he played Quarterback for the Red Raiders in the late 70s, and he teaches Physics here at BL.
Coach Ferrell has been married to his wife, Melanie, for over 35 years and they have one son, Hunter.
