Tom Trautman is entering his 11th year as the head wrestling coach at Bishop Lynch High School. The Friar wrestling team has grown considerably under the direction of Coach Trautman from eight when he first arrived on campus to regularly having 80 or more wrestlers on the team.

The Friars men's team has now won five TAPPS state championships under Trautman's direction: 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2025. They also won a Prep State Dual Championship in 2017 and have placed 2nd several times. The Bishop Lynch women's wrestling program has won the past three state championships.

Before coming to Bishop Lynch, Coach Trautman coached wrestlers aged 5-18 in Highland Park, at Jesuit, and for the Dallas Dynamite Wrestling Club. Coach Trautman is proud to have several former wrestlers attending college on various athletic scholarships (Wrestling, Football, Lacrosse, Rugby) and currently has three former wrestlers representing Bishop Lynch in different Service Academies (USAF, USNA, USMA-West Point).
