Unbeaten at home, Lady Friars to host LCS when playoffs begin

Another year, another home playoff game for the Lady Friars, who open the TAPPS Division I postseason on Wednesday, Feb. 13 against Liberty Christian.

Bishop Lynch (15-5) will have had more than a week to bounce back from their most recent outing, a 4-0 loss at Ursuline that put BL in the second slot and gave the Bears yet another district title.

They'll take on a Warriors (4-9) squad that finished third in the four-team District 1. The contest is scheduled for a 5 pm kickoff at Roffino Stadium.

The Lady Friars will look to add to a perfect home record (7-0) after racking up a +33 goal differential on home turf (36-3). Two of those three goals were scored by Liberty Christian in the season opener back on Nov. 5, a game that Bishop Lynch won by a 4-2 score.

In that win over LCS, Jaida Thomas scored a hat trick, Alexis Sanders added a goal and an assist, and Mallory Johnson assisted on two goals. For the season, BL has outscored the opposition by a margin of 70-21.

Thomas has posted 32 goals and eight assists in just 15 games, Johnson has a team-high 20 assists to go with 11 goals and Sanders has 11 assists and seven goals despite switching from an offensive role to defense for her senior season.

The two teams have faced three similar opponents – John Paul II, Ursuline, and Trinity Christian. In those contests, the Lady Friars have a 3-2 record while Liberty Christian has been unlucky at 0-4.

The winner of this contest advances to this weekend's area playoffs to face either TCA or Parish Episcopal.
