As they do every year, the Lady Friars continue to grind through a grueling non-district schedule in preparation for league play next month.

Last night was a perfect example with two tough matches in Coppell, where the Lady Friars earned a split against the state-ranked Cowgirls and McKinney.

The Lady Friars (13-6 overall) were swept by Coppell but played three tightly-contested matches, 25-22, 25-21 and 25-22. Bishop Lynch had to hold off a McKinney rally but topped the Lions in five, 25-23, 25-21, 22-25, 15-25 and 15-9.

Lauryn Green posted a team-high 10 kills to go with four blocks, Izzy Clavenna had nine kills with 14 digs and Sydney Broussard led the team with 15 digs. Alex Galicia notched 17 assists and 10 digs while Isabella Aguilar added 13 assists.

Clavenna racked up 16 kills, 18 digs and served four aces. Green recorded eight kills, seven blocks and three aces and Katie Blomberg added 14 digs and five kills. Broussard led the defense with 26 digs, Galicia had a team-high 20 assists and Aguilar posted 13 digs and 10 assists.

The ladies continue their road tour Thursday at TCA-Addison at 6 pm. They'll also play Tuesday at Rockwall-Heath before making just their second home appearance Aug. 31 against Highland Park.
