With just a week left to go until district play begins, the Bishop Lynch volleyball team is building momentum at just the right time with a three-game win streak entering the final two non-district contests.
Senior Lauryn Green (Tulane commit) dominated Tuesday's effort in Fort Worth, where the Friars (17-7) swept Fort Worth All Saints by scores of 25-12, 25-16 and 25-19. Green hammered down 15 kills, blocked five shots and served up four aces.
Last week, the Friars dropped the opening set to Highland Park before ripping off three straight wins to close the book on the Scots with scores of 20-25, 25-20, 26-24 and 25-23. Green and fellow senior Izzy Clavenna (Boston College commit) each tallied 14 kills.
• The Friars posted a solid attack percentage of .300 against Highland Park but were even better Tuesday with a .376 mark in the sweep of All Saints.
• Green hit .440 against Highland Park and a phenomenal .667 in Fort Worth. Clavenna posted a .323 on Friday and .444 on Tuesday.
• Galicia passed the 1,000-assist mark for her career during Friday's win over Highland Park. She currently has 1,029 in just 1 ½ seasons.
• The Friars host Nolan Catholic this evening at 6 pm and TCA-Addison on Tuesday (6 pm) before opening district play at Bishop Dunne on Thursday, Sept. 13.
