DALLAS - Bishop Lynch's third quarter proved to be the difference in their 54-46 victory over Parish on Tuesday night. The Friars earned their first district victory and moved to 19-9, 1-1 on the season.
The Friars trailed 24-17 at halftime, but with an impressive second half, specifically the third quarter, they were able to will themselves to an eight-point victory over the Panthers. Much of that success goes to
Braxton Teal and
Brice Davis, as they combined to scored 27 points in the second half alone.
The Friars would get their first lead of the second half when Davis put together two consecutive old-fashioned three-point plays. This would give BL a 39-37 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, Teal made all six free-throw attempts while also adding a field goal, giving him eight points in the quarter. Davis would also hit all four of his free-throw attempts to close out the game.
Teal and Davis both finished with 16 points in the game, and
Logan Epes added 10. In the second half, the Friars outscored the Panthers 37-22. Much of that was because the Friars were aggressive, attacked the paint, and drew fouls. ** of the 37 points came in the paint or the FT line.
