Lyric Berry had one of her best games all season as she led the Friars to a 3-0 victory over DasCHE on Tuesday night in the Competition Gym.
Bishop Lynch played their best volleyball in the opening set, which they took 25-18. As a team, the Friars hit .290% with 14 kills and five errors.
Lyric Berry and
Paloma Gonzalez each had five kills in the first set to lead both teams.
Delaney Moon also added two aces, which brings her total for the year up to 24.
In the second set, the Friars had to fight from behind the majority of the way, until
Leah Oyewole and
Lauryn Lambert took over late in the set. Each got five kills in the set, helping BL get a four-point set win. Berry added four more kills in the second set and
Cate Hatfield had nine of her game-high 19 assists in the second set as well.
The third set belonged to
Lyric Berry and
Riley Seitz. They combined for nine kills and were a force at the net and helped BL take the set 25-18 and the match 3-0. Berry led all players in the match with 14 kills, tying her season high for most kills in a match. She also had two solo blocks and an assist block.
These games are crucial for building a successful program as many young players get to see action. Freshman
Madison Pflum took advantage of the one set she played, getting two kills Tuesday night.
The Friars still have a busy week remaining, playing on the road against Bryan Adams on Thursday and hosting Frisco Independence on Friday.
