Offensive woes hurt Friars against Prestonwood

DALLAS, TX -- The Bishop Lynch women's basketball team dropped their second straight district game with a 45-41 defeat to Prestonwood Christian last Friday. Bishop Lynch (11-9, 0-2) is 0-2 in district play for the first time since the 1986-1987 season, according to our records.

Despite the back-to-back district losses, the Friars have had chances to win in both games. Against PCA, the coaches drew up a great play for Mikah Ford to tie up the game with under 20 seconds left, and Ford did everything perfectly, the shot just didn't drop.

The team is currently in a shooting slump. In the ladies' last four games - including PCA - the team's overall shooting percentages have been 29%, 29%, 27%, and 21%. Their season average with those games is 35% so they have shown they can get out of the slump.

Despite the low shooting numbers, the Friars are playing great defense and taking care of the ball. On the season, BL is holding opponents to just 32% from the field and 21% from the three-point line. They have also taken care of the ball well over the last few games and in the two district games they averaged 11.5 turnovers compared to their opponents who averaged 15.5.
