Friars shock Warriors, advance to TAPPS regionals

ARGYLE, TX -- The Bishop Lynch Friars pulled off a major upset in the TAPPS area volleyball playoffs, defeating Liberty Christian 3-1 on the Warriors' home court last night. Entering the match as underdogs, the Friars had lost five of their previous six matches and faced the No. 1-seeded Warriors. Liberty Christian earned the top seed by going 6-0 in district play with a 30-9 season record, including 10-1 at home. Despite the challenging odds, the Friars rallied for their best performance of the season to secure a spot in the regionals.

"I believe our tough district helped prepare us for this team," Head Coach Shea Jenkins said. "The team did an outstanding job of coming into a new environment and executing the game plan."

When asked to name a player of the match, Jenkins emphasized the collective effort. "There isn't one girl on our team who didn't deserve player of the match," he said. "The way everyone stepped up, from top to bottom, was awesome to watch. I'm proud of the entire team."
