DALLAS, TX -- The Bishop Lynch women's basketball team did something they hadn't done since February 2023- win a district home game. Last Friday, the Friars defeated Nolan Catholic 66-39 to the delight of Friar Nation.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Friars defensively overwhelmed the visiting Vikings from start to finish on their way to the 27-point victory last Friday. Bishop Lynch held Nolan to just 30.2% shooting while forcing the Vikings to commit 33 turnovers. The Friars turned those 33 turnovers into 26 points.
After one of her best games, if not the best, of her career against Prestonwood,
Mikah Ford continued her hot streak as she led the Friars in scoring with 14 points on 7-12 shooting. The senior guard also added four rebounds, three assists, and four steals. The only other Friar to reach double digits in the contest was
Fre Vowels who added 10 points.
The Friars had a great offense scheme throughout the night as nine players scored four or more points. As a team, they shot 29-61 (47.5%) from the field which is their best of the season.
Not only did the Friars get the important district win, but
Ellery Sample returned to action. The senior has been recovering from an injury and made her season debut last Friday. In limited action, Sample finished with eight points, three rebounds, three assists, and four steals.
