DALLAS, TX -- The reigning TAPPS state champion Bishop Lynch couldn't hold off the Prestonwood Christian Academy Lions, falling 50-43 in their district opener Saturday afternoon.
The Friars had a strong start, building a 29-13 lead just before halftime. Their early success came largely from beyond the arc, with
Fre Vowels and
Londyn Perry combining to shoot 5-for-9 from three-point range in the first half. Perry sank four three-pointers and finished with a team-high 18 points.
Bishop Lynch entered the fourth quarter with a five-point lead, but the Lions' relentless pressure proved too much. The Friars were outscored 15-3 in the final quarter, going 0-for-12 from the field.
